Security Cameras, Alarms & Data Cabling in St Marys

Protect What Matters. Connect What Counts.

Security & Telecommunications Services in St Marys

St Marys is where Western Sydney’s residential streets meet its industrial estates. Queen Street’s shops and services, the station precinct and the family homes of St Marys, North St Marys, Oxley Park and Colyton sit right beside the Dunheved industrial estate, the St Marys industrial precinct and, a few minutes south, the Erskine Park and Kemps Creek logistics hubs now serving the Western Sydney Airport. Mac-Tek Telecom is based ten minutes away in Emu Heights and has installed security cameras, alarms, access control, phone systems and cabling for St Marys homes, shops, workshops and warehouses since 2013.

What we install in St Marys

Local knowledge that matters

Industrial sites in St Marys need cabling that copes with dust, heat, long distances and electrical noise from machinery, and fibre rather than copper between buildings. Homes in the older streets are typically single-storey with good roof access, which keeps camera and alarm installations quick and affordable. Granny flats and dual occupancies, common across the area, benefit from a shared intercom and camera system. Our guide to structured cabling and fibre for industrial sites in St Marys and Penrith covers what to specify.

St Marys and the Airport Corridor: Designing Systems With Room to Grow

St Marys is becoming the rail gateway to Western Sydney International Airport. The Sydney Metro line now under construction will run from St Marys through Orchard Hills and Luddenham to the airport and on to Bradfield, and new apartment buildings are rising near the station. Pacific National’s St Marys Freight Hub has been built beside the Dunheved Business Park, while to the south the Mamre Road precinct is being developed for warehousing, logistics and data centres. For businesses moving into or expanding in the area, a system designed with spare capacity costs less over its life than one that has to be ripped out and replaced.

Questions to settle before we quote an industrial site

  • Will you add buildings, a mezzanine or another shift? Spare optic fibre cores and rack space installed now avoid a second trench later.
  • Who needs to get in after hours? Night-shift staff, drivers, cleaners and contractors each need different access control rules and time windows.
  • Where do trucks enter, queue and turn? That decides where gate intercoms and number plate cameras belong.
  • How long is your lease? On a shorter lease, equipment that can be taken to your next site may be the better investment.
  • Who certifies the cabling? Telecommunications cabling must be installed by an ACMA-registered cabler to the AS/CA S009 Wiring Rules. Whoever does your communications cabling, ask for test results and a signed compliance statement at handover.

Homes near the station and on the airport fringe

The newer apartment buildings near St Marys station need multi-unit intercoms and fob or card access to lobbies, car parks and bin rooms. Acreage properties to the south, in Orchard Hills, Mount Vernon, Luddenham and Badgerys Creek, need the opposite: long-range coverage of gates and driveways, and links out to sheds and outbuildings.

Also covered from this page: Orchard Hills, Mount Vernon, Luddenham, Badgerys Creek, Jordan Springs and Ropes Crossing.

Working on an operating site

Most industrial sites cannot stop for an installation. After a site assessment with whoever runs the floor, we quote with a staged program that works around deliveries, shifts and forklift traffic, and we agree which areas are worked on when before we start.
