Mount Druitt sits at the centre of one of Western Sydney’s largest residential areas, with Westfield Mount Druitt, the hospital and the station at its core and the suburbs of Whalan, Tregear, Lethbridge Park, Bidwill, Emerton, Shalvey, Dharruk, Minchinbury and Rooty Hill spreading out around it. The Minchinbury and Rooty Hill industrial precincts along the M4 and the M7 add distribution centres, transport depots and food manufacturers to the mix. Mac-Tek Telecom has installed security and communications systems for homes, shops, community organisations and industrial sites across the Mount Druitt area since 2013.
What we install in Mount Druitt
- CCTV camera systems for homes, shops, service stations, churches, schools and warehouses.

- Structured cabling and optic fibre for industrial sites and multi-building campuses.

Local knowledge that matters
Many Mount Druitt homes are single-storey brick or fibro with accessible roof spaces, which makes a wired camera and alarm system straightforward and affordable. Shops, service stations and takeaway outlets benefit from cameras positioned to capture faces at counters and number plates at forecourts, plus discreet duress buttons for staff. Industrial sites in Minchinbury and Rooty Hill need gate cameras, long cable runs and access control that tracks contractors as well as staff. Upgrading an Older Alarm or Camera System in Mount Druitt: Your Questions Answered
Much of the area around Mount Druitt was developed by the NSW Housing Commission from the 1960s onwards, so many homes and shops now carry security equipment added to and patched over decades. Before replacing everything, find out what can be kept.
My alarm used to report to a monitoring company. Does it still work?
Possibly not. Telstra and Optus switched off their 3G mobile networks in 2024, so alarm panels that relied on a 3G communicator to reach a monitoring centre can no longer send signals that way. Older panels that dialled out over a copper phone line may also have stopped reporting when the premises moved to the nbn. A walk test and a signal test will confirm it, and often only the communicator needs replacing, not the whole alarm system.
Can my old camera cabling be reused?
Often, yes. Many older analogue systems were wired with coaxial cable, and current HD-over-coax cameras and recorders can run on existing coax that is still in good condition, which saves new runs through the roof. If the cable is damaged, or you want features that need network cameras, we will recommend new Cat6 and explain the difference in cost. Our CCTV camera systems page covers both options.
I rent. What am I allowed to install?
Under NSW tenancy rules, installing a wireless, removable outdoor security camera is a minor change that a landlord must not unreasonably refuse. Anything hard-wired or fixed to the building needs the landlord’s written consent first, and cameras should cover your property, not a neighbour’s yard.
Do I have to replace everything at once?
No. A sensible order is to get the alarm reporting reliably first, then add cameras covering the doors, driveway and side gates, then upgrade the doorbell to a video intercom. Staging is fine if each step is chosen to work with the next. For budgeting each stage, see what a CCTV system costs in Western Sydney.
Where else do you cover from here?
As well as the suburbs listed above, we cover Blackett, Ropes Crossing and Eastern Creek.
What happens at the site assessment?
If you can, note the brand and model of your alarm keypad, recorder and cameras. We test what is already there, tell you what is still serviceable, and quote only for what actually needs replacing.
